Our Afghan Neighbors: Food, Family and Tradition

Join Muncie Public Library for a special MPL Big Read community presentation. This meaningful event will offer a chance to learn from members of our local Afghan community as they share stories about their culture, traditions, and experiences building a new life in the United States.

Guests will enjoy a taste of traditional Afghan cuisine while learning about the role food plays in family gatherings, holidays, and celebrations. Community members will discuss important Afghan holidays and special occasions, the spices and ingredients that shape Afghan cooking, and the traditions that bring families together around the table.

Beyond the food, speakers will share personal reflections on navigating life in a new country—the challenges, the moments of joy, and the ways culture and community help create a sense of home.
