Food in Art- A tour of how food plays a part of art history

What role has food played in art and art history?  You can find out with us on special tour at the David Owsley Museum of Art!

As part of the MPL Big Read, the David Owsley Museum of Art will host a special event exploring the role of food in art and art history. The program will examine how artists across time and cultures have used food to represent ideas about identity, culture, daily life, and symbolism. Participants will enjoy a guided tour of a special exhibit featuring selected works from the museum’s permanent collection, highlighting paintings, sculptures, and objects where food plays a central role. The event invites visitors to look closely, discuss meaning, and consider how food connects art to shared human experiences.
