The Ball State Philosophy and Religious Studies Department in partnership with Muncie Public Library presents the Big Questions, Big Ideas series. Learn to think critically about complex issues and questions, and cultivate an awareness of the diversity of ideas in our world.

September's topic will be "Critical theories of place studies: a project on women philosophers of the Global South" by Dr Matthew Wilson, Associate Professor of Architecture.

In this talk, Matthew Wilson shows how womanist thinkers set the grounds of debate for decolonial feminism. In place-based scenes we will see the ways in which women contested the anti-feminist ‘empire of opinion’ known as positivism. Wilson prompts us to situate the topographies of women’s resistance at the center of cultural heritage discourse and the scholarship of teaching and learning.
