Grant Research Request
About this Service
Because Muncie Public Library is currently unable to offer in-person access to the full Foundation Directory Online (FDO) or Grants to Individuals Online (GTIO) we are now offering remote search services to support the Muncie-area nonprofit community. Please complete this form to request grant search assistance, and a librarian will contact you with any questions and/or your search results.
Additionally, during the library closure, you can now start your grant research from anywhere using Foundation Directory Online (FDO) Essential.*
*Learn how FDO Essential compares to FDO Professional (PDF). Generally, FDO Essential will show you profiles of grantmakers and 990 forms that match your search terms. FDO Professional provides those as well as grant and recipient details, and is currently available via the Research Request form below.
Note about Grant Database Scope:
The Foundations in these directories typically fund only nonprofits with 501(c)(3) status as defined by the Internal Revenue Code. These are organizations whose purposes are charitable, educational, scientific, religious, literary, or cultural. A small number of foundations will also make grants to individuals, usually to help pay for educational expenses, or support artistic or research projects.
- These databases are generally not where you will find funds to help with personal needs such as food, medical bills, housing, or debt relief. Instead, please call 211, or contact your elected officials such as your township trustee, to find government agencies and human/social service organizations near you, some of which may be able to provide temporary financial and other forms of assistance. Please also refer to the resources linked in this Grantspace Knowledge Base article for more emergency financial resources during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Additionally, these databases are generally not where you will find funds to help with a for-profit business. Please refer to the resources linked in this Grantspace Knowledge Base article for more authoritative information about funds to start a for-profit business.
